18A Customer Avatar

18 A- Customer Avatar

My avatar would be the average guy in his 30’s or 40’s wearing jeans and a tshirt. They would most likely be a man who is a homeowner with a large plot of land. Ideally they would have some type of gardening hobby, so they would like to take care of their yard and have everything look professional. Along with gardening, they would be an outdoor type of person in general. They would not be afraid to get down and dirty and would rather fix things themselves rather than take it to a mechanic. The guy would be married with one kid and a dog, and another kid on the way. The backyard would have a small playground, as well as some nice landscaping in the back where the mower would have to be able to make fine movements around the rocks and tiles.

The thing I most have in common with this avatar is being an outdoor person and not being afraid to get my hands dirty. I also like to fix things myself, and like to figure out what went wrong when something broke. Hopefully my customers would also give me this feedback when things break so I could identify trends and improve the next generations model. I don’t think it’s a coincidence that I have these things in common with the avatar. I came up with idea because of all the mowing I had to do, and I always wished there was an easier way to do it. If I was the type of person who stayed inside all day and never did any yard work I would not have even known this problem existed.

  1. It seems like you know your market really well, which will really help you to understand how to target your market properly. It is good that you have so much in common with your target group because it will help you better understand what your consumers are looking for in your product. It makes sense that you understand the customer so well since you invented the product for a reason.

  2. Sounds like you know your ideal customer very well and have a lot in common with them. That will come in handy when you market your product I am sure you can come up with creative ideas on how to reach your customer and grab their attention. I bet that will make it much much easier in the long run.

  3. Hi Brandon,

I thought you did a good job going in-depth about your customer’s traits. You really captured the characteristics of a typical homeowner who would be interested in your product. Like you, I found that I also had some similarities with my customer avatar and enjoy some of the same things they do. This will be helpful going forward if you decide to develop accessories or additional products later.
