30A Final Reflection
The single most important thing I have realized by taking this class is how important research and preparation is. I need to do way more market research and interviews with customers before I even think about making a prototype. Interviewing people was something that I was apprehensive about at the start, but throughout the semester I got a little more comfortable with it.
I am most proud that I was able to come up with an idea and use it for the entire semester. I was able to develop it enough that I believe could be viable. I don’t think it looks like a good enough business to drop out of school right now and pursue it, but I think I will follow up with it later in my life if I have the time.
I have noticed a lot more problems, and I believe that this allows more to see more solutions. This covers everything from problems in the physical world, to problems with software. Hopefully I will have the skill set later on to be able to use software to also solve these problems.
Research, research, research. That is my advice for any other students or any other entrepreneurs. I have learned so much just by watching people as they shop and looking at their habits. I would be able to use this in my business to develop a better idea of why customers buy my products and also be able to create a product that they would be more likely to buy. Also my advice to anyone taking this course in the future, don’t wait until the last minute to do assignments, give yourself some time to spare. Doing the assignment Friday afternoon instead of Friday night at 10pm makes a huge difference.
It’s been a great semester and hopefully I will be and entrepreneur and be my own boss in the future!

I agree that the biggest part of this class is doing extensive research so that the assignments are done properly and your venture is being well thought out. Also I agree that getting assignments done ahead of time helps to make the class seem less stressful and more overall manageable. I know working ahead has given me the time I needed to succeed in not only this class, but my other summer classes as well.
ReplyDeleteHi Brandon!
ReplyDeleteI agree completely with your comments about not waiting until the last minute to do assignments. It is a lot easier to do the work early and have time to revise it as needed than to be running up against the clock and do sloppy work. Good advice!
I have enjoyed interacting with you in this class over the summer semester and watching you turn your idea into a full-fledged business concept. You have such an interesting business idea. I hope if you do pursue it in the future that it is a big success!
Good luck to you in your classes at UF and in all your future endeavors!!!
I second your comments about research. I had an idea that is would be good to do research prior to starting a business but the length and detail that we went to this semester really opened my eyes to what is needed. I am sure that without a doubt this class will help all of us no matter if we become entrepreneurs or not. At the least I can at least spell entrepreneur now without having to correct it with spell check! I kid. Thank you for all of your input this semester on my project it really did help to uncover the blind spots.
